Advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX) is the term used to describe IBM's Unix-based operating system, which runs on its mid-range computers and mainframes. AIX is an alternative to Windows, Linux and OS/400.
This operating system was originally based on AT&T's Unix System V. In the past, AIX has also been available on other IBM platforms, including the RT and PC.
