The fastest growing challenger bank in the UK

Within just 12 months of trading, Cambridge and Counties Bank (CCB) had reached profitability, supported over 1,500 SME customers, and released over £100 million of loans not long after.

Speed, scalability and cost efficiency

As a new entrant into the financial services market, CCB needed to move quickly in upgrading its IT systems and platforms to support its future growth and business ambitions. Cost-efficiency and scalability were key criteria.

With the requirement to keep IT costs down, CCB sought to leverage the benefits presented by cloud and hosting, thereby eliminating the need for building an in-house technical support team, static on-site hardware and management overheads. Wanting to keep its in-house team focussed on its core business, CCB sought to capitalise on the commercial and operational opportunity that outsourcing offered and sought a strategic partner to manage its IT infrastructure.

They selected Niu Solutions.

Agility and security via private cloud

Niu Solutions were able to provide agility and security through the use of private cloud.

By leveraging a cloud environment, CCB has a platform that is able to flex and scale as the business grows. Niu Solutions’ ISO27001 and 9001 accredited environments ensured the required security levels for CCB to meet their compliancy requirements.

Seamless support

CCB’s environment is wrapped under one management service agreement, providing a virtual IT team, 24/7 support, maintenance and consultancy.

This not only ensures seamless support but also provides a cost-effective solution as CCB only require a single in-house IT professional, who works closely with and is supported by a ‘virtual IT team’ at Niu Solutions.

Digital expansion

CCB also took advantage of Niu Solutions’ very own Workspace product, to enable email via the Cloud. The single sign-on portal available anytime, anywhere and on any device also provides CCB with a scalable ‘Pay as you Grow’ approach to consuming applications in the future.  Should CCB wish to expand they can enable the provision, management and control of additional cloud services and enterprise applications all from one single portal.

Working with Niu Solutions we were able to completely replace our legacy platform in under 9 months – designing testing and implementing a private cloud infrastructure to support our new core banking applications.   By leveraging a virtual IT team and the cloud model, our IT strategy is providing the agility, scalability and cost-efficiency we need to continue our growth.
